And the V-6 engine did not impress with its performance either, delivering a laggard 7.9-second zero-to-60-mph time when new that slowed to 8.1 seconds with 40,000 miles on the clock.
Volkswagen cars typically last around 150,000 miles as long as it is serviced and taken good care of. VW cars you buy today usually last longer than VWs that are just 10 years old as they are built better and easier to maintain.

I personally change the oil every 5,000 miles since most of my driving is stop-and-go city driving. The 3 month/3,000 oil change is no longer the standard that was set by places liked Jiffy Lube. Now, there are plenty of first-generation TTs with over 300,000 miles and a 1.8T engine. However, not so many later generations with the 2.0 and 1.8 TFSI engines. But given the cars Audi and VW sell, it’s natural that their diesel engines will be significantly more reliable than the gasoline ones. So 300,000 miles is a reasonable goal, though some diesel fans would say it’s merely a starting point. It is also worth noting that many drivers have enjoyed similar endurance from well-maintained gasoline-powered cars. LINK – WSJ 2/3/2009. Categories: Automotive, Volkswagen.
