The2.2-litre petrol engine has been the big seller and it's a very slick powerplant, if not hugely rapid in this installation. Whileowning this car for over a year I addressed most common problems apart from regular maintenance every 15K km. Addressed the 4 biggest common 2.2 JTS issues: New timing chain, AlfaRomeo Brera 2.2 JTS. A good Alfa, rather than a great one. Hampered by low power and high price. It's front-drive, but this is the most agile Alfa for years. 2.0 Anyway you have 4 basic issues here to look at. 1/ The pump priming - From your description the pump is working perfectly. It only runs when the Accumulator pressure drops below 36.5 Bar and cuts out at 46 Bar (in the 159 2.2 Selespeed, other models run at slightly different pressures.)
